Halloween Tips and TRICKS for your Pup
Is it just us, or does it feel like we were just running through the summer sprinkler last weekend? Well, somehow Halloween is just around the corner, and weโre here to offer a few tips and TRICKS for getting your furry friend ready for spooky season. ๐ป
Clever last-minute DIY costume ideas:
Business Professional: Repurpose an old work shirt by cutting off the shirt cuffs and color, add a tie, and your pup will be โworking like a dogโ in no time!
Butterfly: Use glitter craft foam to cut out butterfly wings. Attach wings to your dogโs existing harness, and make sure they donโt fly away!
Rocker: Style your dogโs hair into a mohawk (using dog friendly products).
Things to remember when choosing a costume for your dog:
Make sure they are comfortable. If your dog becomes anxious when you put the costume on, maybe a simple bandana would be more their style. Donโt forget the ID tag! As you dress your pooch for the big day, donโt forget to put their collar and/or ID tag back on.
Beware! Decorations could be dangerous for your pup.
With new decorations, comes new curiosity. Be sure to keep a close eye on your dog around the Halloween season. If swallowed, battery powered decorations could lead to chemical burns or gastrointestinal problems. Open candles in your jack-o-lanterns? Make sure to keep them in a spot that your pup cannot reach; you wouldnโt want them to hurt themselves or start something else on fire. Pumpkins and decorative corn may seem harmless, but many of these live items start to mold through the season and could cause serious problems if your pup were to get into them.
Make sure you have dog-friendly treats to pass out on Halloween.

Remember, youโre not the only one that might be spooked this Halloween. Be sure to keep a close eye on your pup and remember: Halloween candies are not safe for pets, decorations could look like tempting toys to your furry friends, and costumes may cause your dog to be more anxious and/or aggressive than usual, so make sure youโre closely monitoring your pup!
