How to Create a Cat Utopia

Cats are very special to us and they deserve their own whimsical area in the house to make them feel more at home. There are plenty of ways to make a special space for your four-legged friend, add some flavor to home and install some new features like towers, shelves, and even a playground. When you think of that special place for your furry friend, what do you see? Below are some examples of what you can create for your cat.

Cozy Cat Walks

Our feline companions love to lounge in strange, high places. You might find your buddy on top of your refrigerator, on bookshelves, or sitting on random counter tops throughout your home. To help reach greater heights, cat owners can build unique and decorative cat walks near the ceiling. Your cat could have a bird's eye view of their kingdom from atop their very own cat walk. Let your creativity shine while designing their play place full of shelves, carpet pieces, or even LED lights if you're looking to add some razzle dazzle. If done properly, these installations can be quite attractive.

To add some more pizazz, use ropes to create a netting for your feline to cross between structures, build a small staircase, or create built-in toy platforms. You can hang dangling feathers and bells from higher platforms where your shelf might rise or a scratching post for a mid-climb grooming. Asymmetrically placed shelves will allow your kitty different vantage points, giving them plenty of options to choose their new favorite lounge spot. Your kitty will thank you for their new favorite place to roam.

Kitty Towers

If you live in an apartment with a policy that doesn’t allow you to stick things on the wall, cat walks might be out of the question. Have no fear though, there are plenty of other options to make your furry friend feel right at home. Cat towers and DIY scratching posts could be the alternative you’re looking for to entertain your feline and protect your furniture. You could use tree branches, wooden ladders, PVC pipes, or cardboard boxes when creating a tower for your feline. Your tower can be as simple or extraordinary as you want.

Scratching posts are the purrfect projects to spice up your space and create hours of entertainment for your cat. You typically only need rope, a post, glue, a base, and the proper tools to put it all together. To create a more decorative post, use colored rope and stained wood that matches the interior of your home. Your cat needs an outlet for scratching, why not make them one with love and style.

Creative Construction

If you have the space, you could spice it up and convert a large portion of your home to a cat paradise! Be extra creative and construct a playground for your cat complete with hammocks and even a nap zone. Owners can make a fort, and even arrange cat-friendly stairs and bridges throughout their home. A playground would combine towers, shelves, and dangling toys, trees, stairs, and whatever else your heart desires to ensure a happy kitty.

For extra good vibes, add a cat bed, a towel hammock, scratching posts, and artificial grass to the playground. These creative features will complete your cat’s kingdom and make them feel right at home.
